Wild flower meadows

Wild flower meadows

Since 2012, we have been developing and expanding the wild flower meadow on the Rectory Road stretch of the Common, in close collaboration with Hackney Parks Department. The first few years were breath-takingly colourful, but the meadows change over time and we are now focusing on native and local species which self-germinate well.

As you may have noticed the meadow area is gradually expanding.

Also Hackney Council's more relaxed grass cutting regime has enabled more species to grow all around the edges of the Common.

This really helps pollinating insects, bees and butterflies.

For the last few years we have been trying to plant wildflowers on the new hillocks on the common. Please don't walk on them.
